Blown Glass Artists

We were hiking the Appalachian Trail early one Spring and felt the pull of civilization as we neared Asheville. To this day, I really think it was the smell of a wonderful cup of coffee found in one of the great little shops that lured us down the mountain. We heard about Jason Probstein from an old man who was slowly sipping his coffee outside one of the shops on Wall St. His eyes glowed like molten glass as he told us of the talented young glass-blower who lived near the French Broad River who spent his days creating these paper thin artworks. Every November we can hardly wait until we get his newest Christmas ornaments. It is always a moment when we brew a pot of special coffee and relive that beautiful vacation. |

Robert Coleman comes to us from down the old 3C Highway in Mt. Vernon. Ohio. We found him one sultry summer day while out cruising down past Mohican State Park in search of that perfect soft serve ice cream that we remembered from those endless summer days of our childhood. It was one of those serendipitous moments that has led to a long relationship between artist and gallery. However, we didn't find the ice cream that day. |

What can be said about Loretta? The graceful beauty that a female glass-blower adds to such a fluid art form is remarkable. She is obviously inspired by her North Georgia surroundings and her love for the art. The day we found Loretta in the hills of North Georgia was hot and humid and we wished our red '67 Mustang had air conditioning. We were lost having been on a search for the potters rumored to be making old style folk pottery in White county. We stopped to ask directions and a dog ran out with a lei around his neck. We forgot about the pottery.....
